Hello,
I am surprised to have seen this article about the EU Stability Pact: concerns about a hasty agreement. On 8 December, in a hasty attempt to reach an agreement on the new European Union (EU) budgetary rules, Member States' finance ministers considered a text that is critical of its adequacy in the face of current challenges. The compromise presented by the Spanish Presidency of the Council, under pressure from some countries led by Germany, reintroduces uniform numerical objectives for all. However, it neglects the need for sufficient fiscal flexibility to support public investment in a just transition to a decarbonised economy.
